The History

Brisbane Smallgoods Company was founded by Paul and Julie Purcell in 1980 at the rear of their retail butcher shop at Northgate in Brisbane. Over the years the company grew and relocated to a much larger and state of the art factory at Virginia and in 2003 was supplying product to major Hotels, Restaurants, Resorts and Large Distributors.
In August of 2003 the Company was sold to concentrate on fresh meat.
Paul and Julie’s son Adam who’s a qualified butcher and has a full HACCP certification has learnt from highly skilled Master Butchers over the past 5 years. Adam wanted the chance to reopen the Company, so the Family purchased the company in May 2004.
The business was then renamed Snag Pty Ltd, trading as Brisbane Smallgoods Company and Mr Snag Pty Ltd.

Christmas Hams

Brisbane Smallgoods Company has been making award winning hams since it was founded in 1980 by Paul Purcell. The company is now owned by his son Adam Purcell, whom he has handed down the knowledge of 3 generations. Each ham is infused with an exclusive blend of ingredients to give it a traditional succulent ham flavor. All of the hams manufactured by Brisbane smallgoods go through a natural wood smoke with a Triple smoking process to achieve a superior golden brown ham, which also gives the right amount of smoke flavor throughout the meat.

Brisbane Smallgoods Company has a wide range of Hams to cater for your Christmas dinner, such as their

  • Traditional Bone In Leg Ham (Whole or Half)
  • “Easy-carve” Semi Boneless Leg Ham, the leg is boned out only leaving the small hock bone which makes carving easy.
  •  Boneless “Champagne” Leg Ham is a totally boneless full muscle leg ham
  • “Mini-carve” Shoulder Ham Semi Boneless (only the Hock remaining) and Totally Boneless
  • Traditional “Picnic” Ham is a Bone in shoulder ham
